South Goa · 2025

The quiet half of a loud state

Spice plantations, river ferries and a handful of stays that make the case for going south.

South Goa is where the state exhales. The beaches are longer and emptier, the villages still have their Portuguese bones, and the pace is slower by an order of magnitude.

The best day we had involved no beach at all — a morning at a spice plantation inland, a ferry across the river, and a late lunch at a house that serves one menu a day.

For couples, this is the version of Goa worth the flight.
